Our Story
At Ascension Records NC, our journey began with a simple yet powerful belief: that music has the ability to transform lives, inspire communities, and amplify voices that need to be heard. Founded in North Carolina, our nonprofit record label was born out of a passion for empowering artists and giving back to the communities that fuel creativity.

Our story started with a vision from Wesley Haynes and Edward Clark, music entrepreneurs and advocates for inclusivity in the music industry. Wesley and Edward recognized the challenges faced by emerging artists—especially those from underrepresented backgrounds—and wanted to create a platform that not only nurtures talent but also uplifts entire communities through music education and outreach.

From the beginning, Ascension Records NC has been more than just a record label. It’s a movement dedicated to making music accessible to everyone. We began by offering artist mentorship and development programs, providing aspiring musicians with the tools they need to succeed.
